DIY: 5 minute 4th of July Fruit Plate

Happy Independence Day! I'm sure you're busy getting everything ready for your barbecue and family party, or at least watching someone hustle and bustle about. I'm always looking for a different way to add a festive piece to the party. That's a lie, I usually just go buy something from the store, but this simple fruit platter doesn't make me slave away in the kitchen all day.  It is a quick and easy flag made with strawberries, blueberries and marshmallows and it will have your guests raving over its unique style and patriotic feel. Bragging rights are in your future.

Gather your supplies first:
2 containers of strawberries
1container of blueberries
1 bag of medium sized marshmallows
Skewer sticks
Time to prepare: 5 minutes

Wash all of your strawberries and blueberries.

Proceed to cut off all of the tops of the strawberries and slice them in half vertically.

Place 6 blueberries on six skewers and then place a marshmallow-strawberry pattern on the remaining blueberry filled sticks.

Moving on to the "stripes" of the flag, place a strawberry, marshmallow, strawberry, marshmallow, and so on until the stick is full. Make sure the marshmallows line up to create the white horizontal stripe below the blue berries.

If you have extra fruit left over feel free to make another layer creating a thicker flag.

Three simple ingredients and a refreshing treat for your guests. I hope you enjoy it!
